I was at the game too.
We did dominate and payed quite well. Carroll was a beast winning every ball, his hold up play and the way he brings others in is exceptional. Still a class player.
Antonio was excellent too and is adding a bit more trickery to his game.
Can't fault the effort and desire from the off too.

I thought we played really well as well. What you need to see is desire, and we got that through the core of the team yesterday for the first time I've seen in ages. Also though Treadwell and zabaleta did very well out on the flanks.

i was at the game last night and thought huddersfield will do what most teams around the bottom do and put everyone behind the ball
they came for a 0 - 0
i thought we did ok and if we got the 1st half goal we would of won by more
we needed the fluke 1st goal to help us win but now we are on our way
bolton next and i got my ticket wonder what side we will put out

I must have been watching a different game to half the people on here.

We were excellent. We dominated the game, created 20 chances, kept a clean sheet, won 2-0 and at no point looked under threat - against a team that got 7 points out of 9 in their first three games..

In addition the team was up for it and battled for every ball.

Don't care about the long balls up to Carroll.

There is a world of difference between a long pass and a punt upfield. The vast majority of those balls we saw last night were passes. Can't compare it to the dark days of Allardyce when the ball was just hoofed up straight to the opposing CBs.

Unlike Carlton Cole and some of the target men we have seen over the years Carroll actually gets to the ball and wins it, which puts us in an attacking position.

Why would not use that as a way of switching the play from our half to theirs if it works so well? To do the opposition a favour?

And it wasn't all long balls. We got down the flanks well too. Cress and Zaba both know how to put a cross in.

I wonder if there would have been so much criticism if we had won our first three games? Seems to me the disappointment of the first 3 matches has infected the way people saw last night's game. Viewed on its merits it was a great performance.

We were always going to score whether it be a flukey goal or not, as you can't sit that deep away from home and expect to get home with any points.

To be honest.

There are a few fuck wits on this thread.

I'd like to know if some posters have actually played football at any level.

I think there are quite a lot on here that play Championship Manager on their Atari's..... does that count??

Thought ‘uddersfield’s build up play looked decent enough… but they seemed to fall apart in our box and never looked like scoring (apart from when Son Of’ hit the bar)… to be honest up until the flukey goal I thought their backline did Ok… they should survive I reckon

Wagner afterwards said how disappointed he was in the way they played and that they deserved nothing (another honest manager!).
Personally having watched them v Newcastle I was surprised how poor they were. Far too timid and didn't attack til they were 0-2 which is odd against a team with nil Pts and under pressure.
Mooy had the ball a lot but they seemed content to hold in their half and hope for a lucky break.
I think they are a better team than they showed but some of that is down to us. They looked a bit shocked by the Carroll blitz and probably thought they had left that sort of play in the lower divisions. They also had no answer to Antonio and looked a bit scared of him.

Huddersfield are so shite that they got 4 points out of Newcastle and Southampton where we got none.

And they beat Palace 3-0.

'Looked comfortable soaking up our fruitless attacks' = true

'West Ham scored a lucky goal' = true

'Huddersfield were lucky to have survived for so long against a never-ending onslaught' also = true

'Huddersfield were lucky to get away with only losing 2-0' also = true.

Sometimes its just a matter of spin.
